Beautiful Poetry
Mr Lambert was lucky enough to read some amazing poetry coming out of 4/5D and simply had to share it with you all. Students were tasked with capturing the devastation caused by bush fires and I think the children did an exceptional job. Mrs Owen and Mrs Delarue are so proud of all of their students and I am too! Here are a few that stood out to me.
The Beast As Red As Roses by Ummayyah A
Sizzle and crackle, the furious beast thunders across the land like a tornado, tearing apart everything in its path.
Whoosh and splash, the blazing monster dashes forward, slicing through the deep, shallow ground.
Swish, plop, and sizzle—the angry, ferocious beast screeches as the splash of cooling water sears its skin like ashes. In its agony, the creature replenishes its fiery core, preparing to unleash a terrible attack on the land in a quest for revenge.
The torment of this terrorising beast is evident as it spins around the tall trees, spreading its flames and completely annihilating everything it encounters.
Snap and crash—the fire engulfs the trees, leaving them in pain. As the flames begin to wane, a final SNAP echoes through the air as a tree log breaks and crashes, leaving a chaotic mess in its wake.
She Took Our Land by Zara W
The scorching flames washed over the land like waves hitting the fresh sand of the ocean.
Pop! Crackle! The fire sizzled the earth like bacon on a barbecue.
Molten lava extended its fingers to the branches of the trees, turning them to ash.
Debris flew higher and higher as the flames grew bigger and bigger, taking over the land.
The fuel-filled fire devoured everything in its grasp,
Its eyes roared with fury, its arms and legs slithering and stretching like a snake consuming its prey.
The green, luscious mountains darkened with each passing second, leaving nothing behind but ash-filled ground.
The fire travelled as if it were a migrating bird, reaching its destination.
Its claws dug into the ashy grass, moving faster and faster as it grew.
Debris fell like rain, covering paths and roads one by one.
The blazing fire engulfed the trees, leaving nothing behind.
As cheeky as a fox and as fast as a cheetah, it destroyed the homes of the animals that roamed around.
The Big Huge Monster by Charlee W
The big, huge monster hugged the tree, turning it from green to grey.
The fire leapt from tree to tree, oblivious to the dropping debris.
The big red monster crept up on people, preparing for its attack.
Its red tongue danced with a head of steam, trampling the trees it broke.
The monster sliced through the land like a knife through butter,
Raging like a ferocious bull across the terrain.
Embers fell like rain,
Its tongue resembles a migrating bird.
Pop, crackle! Flames, like fingers, are as red as roses.
Rumble! The tongue threatened people all over the town.
The fire spat smoke at its sworn enemy, water,
Devouring everything in its path.
